During my residency in Noyers France, I could feel the importance and power of the sunflowers in the landscape. While I was there, a drought was experienced over the summer so the sunflowers that normally cover the hills were already gone, though you could see where they flowed through the fields and some still stood. I’ve come home with sunflowers on my mind, and so I paint them. Inspired by France.
